No Sunday School on September 5

Due to the Labor Day holiday weekend, there are no Sunday School classes this Sunday, September 5. Adult, teen, and children’s classes will not meet this weekend.

This is a normal, planned break in our Sunday school schedule.

Sunday school classes will resume next Sunday, September 12.

Construction at Willis and Carpenter Roads

The Washtenaw County Road Commission will be rebuilding the intersection of Carpenter and Willis Roads, just south of our church property. Willis Road will be closed completely for two weeks at the beginning of the project, then Carpenter will be one lane only for the duration of the project. This construction began on August 9 and is projected to end in mid-October. If you use either of these roads to get to church, plan to find an alternate route.

Picnic Time

2010 Annual Church Picnic

Our annual picnic will be held at the home of Jeff and Chris Whited on Sunday, July 25. Mark your calendar now for this terrific event that our church family enjoys together each year!

It wouldn’t be a great picnic without great food–plan to bring two generous dishes to share. There will be a Bounce House for the kids, and other activities available. Maps will be provided.

Ladies Ministry at Huron Valley

There are thousands of broken and hurting women living just around the corner from our church. We have an opportunity to share the love of Christ with them. A group is forming now to begin ministering to the ladies at Huron Valley Correctional Facility. All that is required is faithfulness and compassion. You will be taught the rest. Training will take place within the next few weeks. If you are interested in more information, contact Suzanne Jones.

Children’s Choir

If you would like to have your child sing in the children’s choir, please sign him or her up in the foyer. Practices will be on Thursdays from 5 to 6, starting at the end of May. All kids K-7th grades are welcome! Any questions call Caty Slayton.

The Children’s Clothing Exchange

The children’s clothing exchange will be open on the second Sunday of every month from 11:20 to 11:45am, also 30 minutes before each Fellowship Feast. The clothing exchange will now be for children only. Clothing donations will be accepted during open hours, please bring laundered clothing in sizes newborn to children’s 16. Please contact: Jillian Ziemann, or Melissa Losee with any questions.

May Fellowship Feast

Our focus will be prayer for the spread of the Gospel as we come together on May 23 at 5 p.m. The evening starts off with dinner together, and with a theme of missions around the world, this would be a great time to branch out and prepare a dish from another culture! We’ll then celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. After that, we’ll hear several short missions presentations given by members and friends of CBC. By the end of the evening, you’ll have enjoyed fellowship around a meal and communion, and you’ll be better informed about how you can pray for missionaries and the spread of the Gospel. Questions? Contact Rod Perkins or Blake Hasselbring. Please sign up in the foyer so we can plan accordingly.

Our New Sign is (Partially) Installed

The guys from Graphic Signs installed our new sign today. It looks pretty good!

Click on any of the images to enlarge:

Note the lovely address stone visible on the next two photos:

Say goodbye to these sad, old temporary things. They’re gone now:

A few notes:

  1. As you can see, the brick work is not 100% complete yet. It will be done soon.
  2. Also, we still need to do a lot of landscaping around this. That’ll be done soon, too.
  3. There is no electricity running out to this sign yet. So, it won’t light up just yet. That’s next on the agenda.

Finally, note that the tree in this photo will be moved to another spot on our property soon. So, please don’t come to us saying that the tree’s in the way. We know. It’ll get fixed soon.

Remember that this was paid for by your gifts to our annual offering last year. Please consider what the Lord would want you to give this year when we receive the annual offering in two weeks.

Thanks to Rich Phillips for all his work coordinating this. Thanks to Dave Fallon for all the work he has done. Thanks to Steve Raymond for all the great brick work.

April Fellowship Feast

This month’s Fellowship Feast will be a Worship Fest. Come together on April 25 at 5 p.m. for an evening of communion, and worship. We’ll start with a time of music (featuring special numbers, choir, and congregational singing), then transition into celebrating the Lord’s Supper, and then continue to glorify our Savior with more music.

Plan to bring light finger foods to share: sandwiches, veggies, chips, desserts, etc. Mark your calendar so you don’t miss this great time together! Please sign up in the Multipurpose Building foyer so we can set up appropriately.

Ladies Craft Night

Ladies, start a new craft project or restart an unfinished project and join us in the chapel for fun and fellowship on Friday April 23, 2010, 6:30 – 11:00 p.m.

Note: Holly Losee will be teaching an angel paper mosaic class. The cost for this class will be $8.00 for supplies. This class will require an R.S.V.P.

Watch your mailbox for more details. Light snacks will be provided. Please feel free to bring a crafty guest. For more information contact Kimberly Knipp.
